Steven Bowman - violin, mandolin, vocals -Steven began playing violin at age 9 during an ice storm. Since then he has played through such things as tornado warnings, wild animals, and wedding receptions. In addition to playing fiddle and mandoline Steven enjoys experimenting with music, having tried his hands at piano, guitar, penny whistle, dulcimer, and vocals...as well as the electric versions of many of these instruments. He is now a music student at the University of Memphis where he is studying violin performance and recording technology. He is also heavily involved in music at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN, where he teaches violin, helps out with the orchestra, and leads worship with the youth group. In his spare time Steven enjoyes writing music, listening to music, watching movies, blogging, reading, hanging out with friends, and worshiping God through everything from music to sitting under a tree, and figuring out how to make Will Tell even more cool... |
Jeff Maxwell - acoustic guitar, vocals -Jeff is twenty years old and currently attends the University of Memphis where he plans to obtain a Bachelor's degree in liberal studies concentrating on religion in society. He has been playing music since the age of seven and has not slowed down since. With direction in his heart, he exists to glorify God with his music in every possible way. Thanks to the direction of Will Tell, he can do just that. Jeff plans to attend Seminary after the University of Memphis where he plans to get a master's in worship through music. |
Robby Crafton - electric guitar, vocals -Robby developed an interest in music at a young age, during highschool he began to pursue the guitar. Currently, Robby is on staff at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett TN as the youth worship coordinator and ministry assistant. He also teaches over thirty students in guitar at the Faith Music Academy as well as leads worship at numerous Christian camps and events in the mid-south area. Robby is also employed by International World Changers (IWC) where he travels around the world leading worship for IWC groups. Robby enjoys listening to music, spending time in the great outdoors, and traveling. He also enjoys spending time with his beautiful fiancee Roxanne and playing with the incredibly awesome band (formerly known as & currently known as) "Will Tell". Evan Johnson - drums and percussion -Evan has been playing percussion for over ten years. He can play most orchestral types of percussion as well as many different genres of music. He was trained to play Latin and Jazz, however he has since learned to play Rock, Celtic Rock, and Blues among other styles. Evan recognizes the fact that God gave him a love for music and a talent for playing the drums. It is this fact that keeps him humbly approaching the throne of God. He has completed his sophomore year at Crichton College where he plans to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies. He plans to start a youth camp that will focus in the areas of apologetics and rhetoric, as well as providing youth with a peaceful getaway from the world where they can hopefully grow closer to God and see a different perspective of Him. "Every man’s legacy is but a path of redeemed mistakes." I am only a vessel, a vapor that will die away, but the word and works of God will remain forever. . |
Ben Murray - bass guitar -Ben has had a very musical upbringing. His dad, James, is a pedal steel guitarist who has played with many country, rock, and blues bands since Ben was very young. Growing up around musicians allowed him to receive the guidance that was so important in growing into an accomplished player. Ben often tells the story, "When I first tried to play music, I wanted to be a guitar player, but after a while my dad said, 'Guitar players are a dime a dozen, but if you can play bass, you can work as much as you want.' Let's just say I'm glad I took his advice." Since the beginning of 7th grade when he first picked up a bass, Ben has played all kinds of music in many venues around the eastern U.S. and played with the popular Christian group 'The Swift' twice, but where does Ben want to go with music? "I just wanna have fun." |
Ellen Appleton - vocals, violin, mandolin, keyboard Ellen began studying violin at age 3 with the Suzuki Strings Program. She began at age 6 to study with professional musicians in jazz, western swing, Celtic, old-time fiddle, and bluegrass at various camps in the summertime. At that time, she and her father began performing at festivals and community programs, and later her mother joined, to form The Appleton Family Band. She recorded her first CD at age 11, featuring a variety of music styles. Ellen and Steven Bowman formed Will Tell, and recorded a Celtic project that was released in December, 2006. Will Tell then developed into the present band, with a new sound and original music. Ellen continues to study classical violin, in addition to playing mandolin, piano, guitar, mountain dulcimer, and the Irist Penny Whistle. She is also a member of an Irish Dance school, performing with the school and incorporating it into Will Tell's music. She plans to pursue a career in violin performance and continue in other styles of music. |
